The virtual Frey Inventory is a Samba server accessible on Windows, Linux, and Mac.
¶ Install (Windows)
Ensure you are connected to the Frey VPN prior to starting install.
- Open File Explorer
- Right-click This PC click Add a network location
- In the Add Network Location Wizard click Next
- Select Choose a custom network location and click Next
- Type
\\10.8.5.4\inventoryand click Next
- Name the network location
Frey Inventoryand click Next - Click Finish
The Frey Inventory will now appear under Network locations in This PC. Note, a connection to the Frey VPN is required.
- Double-click Frey Inventory
- Sign in with the general inventory user:
UsernameWORKGROUP\inventory
¶ Uninstall (Windows)
- Open PowerShell as Administrator
# NET USE \\10.8.5.4\inventory /DEL
¶ Troubleshooting
¶ Windows cannot access \\10.8.5.4\inventory
File Explorer hangs and then presents this error:

- Ensure you are connected to the Frey VPN (computer with a lock should be green)
- If connected and still having issues, report the issue on Mattermost
