The Frey VPN is a virtual private network that makes your device appear as if it is connected directly to the Frey router. This is different from most VPNs which tunnel your traffic.
The advantage is, Frey computers can talk directly to each other while on the Frey VPN, not just to the Frey servers. This allows for things like retro LAN gaming.
¶ Install (Windows)
- Download the OpenVPN
Windows 64-bit MSI installerfrom https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ - Double-click the downloaded file
- Choose Install Now
- On the permission pop-up click Yes
- Click Close when finished
- Click OK to the warning of no readable connection profiles
- Copy the
freyvpn-yourname.ovpnsecurely onto your computer - Double-click the
freyvpn-yourname.ovpnfile to import - Click Yes on the OpenVPN GUI import to complete import
- On the right side of your task bar, right-click the small computer with a lock icon and press connect
- The computer should light up green when connection is successful
